The Green Bay Packers have acquired Pro Bowl linebacker Zaire Franklin in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. As part of the deal, the Colts will receive defensive lineman Colby Wooden, who started 16 games for Green Bay during the 2024 season.
Franklin arrives in Green Bay following a dominant campaign where he led the NFL with 173 total tackles and earned a Pro Bowl selection. The veteran linebacker has been a cornerstone of the Colts' defense, but the move allows Indianapolis to clear Franklin’s salary of more than $7 million off their books.
In exchange, the Colts add Wooden, a young defensive contributor who proved his durability by starting nearly every game for the Packers last year. This trade provides the Packers with an elite tackling presence in the middle of their defense while giving the Colts significant cap flexibility and a proven young starter on the defensive line.
