The Green Bay Packers have officially signed veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor and released quarterback Desmond Ridder, per @AdamSchefter. The transaction marks a significant shift in the team's depth chart as they solidify the roster behind franchise starter Jordan Love.
Tyrod Taylor brings over a decade of NFL experience to Green Bay. Throughout his career, Taylor has spent time with several franchises, including the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, and most recently the New York Jets. He has appeared in 92 career games, throwing for over 12,000 yards and 65 touchdowns while adding significant production on the ground as a dual-threat option.
In a corresponding move, the Packers have waived Desmond Ridder. Ridder was originally a third-round selection by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2022 NFL Draft and had joined the Packers earlier this offseason. His release leaves the Packers with a revamped quarterback room as they prepare for the upcoming campaign. The move indicates Green Bay's preference for a seasoned veteran to serve as the primary backup to Love.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
