The Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms to bring back defensive end LaBryan Ray and cornerback Robert Rochell, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
LaBryan Ray, an Alabama product, returns to the Panthers' defensive front after appearing in 11 games for the team last season. Ray provided key depth on the interior line, recording 18 tackles during his 2023 campaign. His retention ensures the Panthers maintain familiar personnel in their defensive rotation as they transition into the new league year.
Robert Rochell also returns to the secondary after joining Carolina mid-season in 2023. Originally a fourth-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, Rochell has appeared in 37 career NFL games. He played a significant role on special teams for the Panthers last year and provides veteran experience to a cornerback room looking for consistent depth.
These roster moves come as Carolina continues to evaluate its roster under a new management structure. By securing both Ray and Rochell before the height of the free agency period, the Panthers have addressed two defensive depth positions with players who have experience within the organization.
