The New England Patriots are hiring former New York Giants and Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen as a defensive analyst, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The move reunites Bowen with Mike Vrabel, who currently serves as a coaching and personnel consultant for the Patriots. Bowen previously spent six seasons on Vrabel's staff in Tennessee, serving as the outside linebackers coach from 2018 to 2020 before being promoted to defensive coordinator, a position he held from 2021 through 2023.
Most recently, Bowen served as the defensive coordinator for the New York Giants during the 2024 season. His addition to the New England staff provides significant veteran experience to support head coach Jerod Mayo and defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington. During his tenure as a coordinator in the NFL, Bowen has been recognized for overseeing disciplined defensive units, particularly in red-zone efficiency and run defense.
