The New England Patriots have traded up to the No. 55 overall selection in the second round of the NFL Draft, according to a report from @AdamSchefter.
To move up to the 55th pick, the Patriots are sending a package of three draft picks to the Los Angeles Chargers. In exchange for the No. 55 selection, the Chargers will receive pick No. 63, pick No. 131, and pick No. 202 from New England.
The move represents a jump of eight spots for the Patriots as they move into the middle of the second round to secure a target on their board. By moving back, the Chargers acquire additional draft capital in the fourth and sixth rounds while remaining in the latter portion of the second round at pick 63. This transaction marks a significant draft-day maneuver for both AFC franchises as they look to bolster their rosters.
