The Los Angeles Rams have officially re-signed running back Ronnie Rivers to a one-year contract, according to a report from @AdamSchefter. The move ensures that the Rams retain a key depth piece in their backfield as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season.
Ronnie Rivers, an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State, has spent the last two seasons with the Rams organization. During his tenure in Los Angeles, he has primarily served as a backup and a contributor on special teams. In the 2023 season, Rivers appeared in nine games, recording 32 carries for 129 yards, averaging 4.0 yards per attempt. He also added five receptions for 22 yards before a mid-season knee injury sidelined him for a portion of the year.
By bringing back Rivers, the Rams maintain continuity behind lead back Kyren Williams. Rivers has earned praise from the coaching staff for his reliability and knowledge of the offensive system. The one-year agreement allows the team to keep a proven rotation player in the mix as they evaluate their backfield options through the draft and remainder of the offseason.
