New Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Rashan Gary has agreed to a significant pay cut as part of his trade from the Green Bay Packers, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The financial restructuring was a key component in finalizing the move that sends the veteran defender to Dallas.

Under the terms of the revised agreement, Gary's compensation will drop to $16 million in each of the next two seasons. To further assist with the team's salary cap management, the Cowboys added an option and void years to the contract. These adjustments effectively lower Gary's cap hit to $5.44 million for the current season and $8.24 million in 2027, per Pelissero.

The acquisition of Gary provides the Dallas Cowboys with a premier pass-rushing threat to bolster their defensive front. Gary, a former first-round pick, had spent his entire career with the Packers prior to this trade. By agreeing to the pay reduction and contract restructure, Gary grants the Cowboys additional financial flexibility as they integrate him into their defensive scheme for the remainder of the year.
