Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice will spend the next 30 days rehabbing from a recent knee surgery while in custody at a Dallas County jail, according to Ty Schmit. The 30-day jail stint is the result of a probation violation after Rice reportedly tested positive for THC.
The recent medical procedure was a "clean-up" or debridement surgery intended to remove loose debris from the knee. This minor procedure follows a much more significant reconstructive surgery Rice underwent in 2024 to repair his LCL and hamstring. While the recent clean-up is considered routine, the recovery will now be managed within the Dallas County facility due to the court-ordered incarceration.
Rice remains on probation stemming from his involvement in a high-speed multi-vehicle crash in Dallas. The positive drug test triggered the violation, leading to this immediate 30-day sentence. The Kansas City Chiefs have not yet issued a statement regarding the violation or how this period of confinement will impact Rice's availability as the team prepares for the 2026 season.
