Recently retired wide receiver Robert Woods is returning to the Los Angeles Rams as the team’s new assistant wide receiver coach, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. The announcement comes shortly after Woods officially transitioned away from his playing career, during which he established himself as one of the most reliable and versatile receivers in the NFL.
The move marks a significant homecoming for Woods, who played five seasons for the Rams from 2017 to 2021. During his tenure in Los Angeles, he recorded two 1,000-yard seasons and was a vital component of the offense that reached two Super Bowls. Known for his elite blocking and veteran leadership, Woods was a cornerstone of the early Sean McVay era before spending time with the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans.
By joining the coaching staff, Woods will look to mentor a young Rams receiving corps that includes standout Puka Nacua and veteran Cooper Kupp. His intimate familiarity with the McVay offensive system is expected to make the transition from the field to the sidelines seamless. The Rams have not yet released further details regarding the full structure of their coaching staff for the upcoming season.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
