The New Orleans Saints are bolstering their defense by signing former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Kaden Elliss to a three-year contract, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The deal marks a significant homecoming for the veteran defender as he rejoins the franchise where he began his professional career.
Per @RapSheet, the agreement is worth $33 million total and includes $23 million in guaranteed money. The contract, which was finalized by agents Malki Kawa and Ethan Lock of First Round Management, has a maximum potential value reaching nearly $39 million. The Saints are reportedly viewing Elliss as a defensive lynchpin for the upcoming season.
Elliss originally entered the league as a seventh-round pick for the Saints in 2019. After a breakout season in New Orleans, he spent time with the division-rival Falcons before this return to the Big Easy. His addition provides a familiar and productive playmaker to the Saints linebacker corps as the team continues to reshape its defensive identity.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
