Reporting via @RapSheet, Rapoport shared the "not great news" regarding the retired playmaker's status just ahead of the scheduled event. Holmes was expected to be a featured participant in the game, which is held annually on World Sickle Cell Day to raise awareness and funds for the cause.
Despite being unable to compete on the field, Holmes is expected to remain on-site to host the festivities and support the III & Long Foundation.
