The Seattle Seahawks are signing former Indianapolis Colts safety Rodney Thomas II, according to a report from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The move comes as teams across the league continue to shuffle their rosters following the final cutdown deadline.
Rodney Thomas II joins the Seahawks after spending his first two NFL seasons in Indianapolis. Originally selected as a seventh-round pick out of Yale in the 2022 NFL Draft, Thomas exceeded expectations early in his career. He appeared in 34 games for the Colts, recording 86 total tackles and six interceptions.
During his standout rookie campaign in 2022, Thomas secured four interceptions and proved to be a valuable asset in the deep third of the field. His arrival in Seattle provides the Seahawks with experienced depth at the safety position and potential contributions on special teams units.
The addition of Thomas is the latest move by the Seahawks front office to bolster the secondary under new head coach Mike Macdonald. Thomas will look to compete for snaps in a defensive backfield that has seen significant changes throughout the offseason.
