The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing veteran safety Darnell Savage to a one-year contract, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The deal brings the experienced defensive back to Pittsburgh as the team looks to solidify its secondary for the 2026 season.

Savage, 28, joins the Steelers following a 2025 campaign in which he saw action with both the Washington Commanders and the Buffalo Bills. A former first-round selection out of Maryland in 2019, Savage spent the first five years of his career with the Green Bay Packers before signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2024 season. His arrival in Pittsburgh adds a seasoned presence to a defensive backfield anchored by All-Pro Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Throughout his seven-year professional career, Savage has recorded approximately 371 total tackles and 10 interceptions. The Steelers have been focused on adding depth to their safety rotation this offseason, and Savage provides a proven starter with significant experience across multiple defensive systems. Financial terms of the one-year agreement have not yet been disclosed.
