Former Indianapolis Colts offensive tackle Braden Smith has reached an agreement on a two-year, $25 million contract with the Houston Texans, according to his agent Michael Perrett of Priority Sports per Adam Schefter.
The deal includes $13.5 million in fully guaranteed money for the veteran lineman. Braden Smith, who has been a mainstay on the Indianapolis Colts offensive line since being drafted in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, now makes the jump to a division rival in the AFC South. During his tenure in Indianapolis, Smith established himself as a reliable starter, primarily holding down the right tackle position for the franchise over the last several seasons.
The addition of Braden Smith provides a significant veteran presence to the Houston Texans front five. By securing a proven starter with extensive experience within the division, Houston continues its offseason effort to solidify the protection for their offensive unit. Smith's move marks a notable shift in the AFC South landscape as he transitions from protecting the pocket in Indianapolis to joining the rebuilding efforts in Houston.
