The Tennessee Titans are bolstering their offensive line, reaching an agreement with veteran guard Cordell Volson on a one-year contract, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The deal is worth up to a maximum of $4.215 million and includes $2.5 million in fully guaranteed money. The contract was finalized and negotiated by Volson's agents, Chris Gittings and Jeremiah Sirles.
Volson, a former starter for the Cincinnati Bengals, provides the Titans with an experienced option on the interior of the offensive line. During his tenure in Cincinnati, Volson was a consistent presence in the starting lineup, contributing to the unit's pass protection and run blocking efforts. He now heads to Nashville to compete for a primary role in the Titans' revamped offensive front.
The move marks another step in the Titans' efforts to solidify their protection schemes heading into the new campaign. By adding a player with Volson's starting pedigree on a short-term deal, the team gains both depth and veteran leadership at the guard position.
