The Miami Dolphins have reached an agreement with veteran kicker Zane Gonzalez on a one-year contract, according to his agent, Mike McCartney.
Gonzalez joins the Dolphins following a stint with the San Francisco 49ers, where he spent the 2023 season on injured reserve before being released. A seasoned specialist, Gonzalez has appeared in 63 career games since being drafted out of Arizona State in 2017. He has previously served as the primary kicker for the Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, and Carolina Panthers.
Throughout his NFL career, Gonzalez has converted 91 of 113 field goal attempts, boasting a career success rate of 80.5 percent. His most productive stretch came with the Panthers in 2021, where he made 20 of 22 field goals and earned NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors on two separate occasions.
The signing provides the Dolphins with veteran experience at the kicker position as they prepare for their upcoming training camp and the 2024 season. The details of the financial terms were not immediately disclosed, per @MikeMcCartney7.
