The Washington Commanders have signed veteran wide receiver Van Jefferson, per @AdamSchefter.
Jefferson, a former second-round pick, joins the Commanders after spending the 2023 season with both the Los Angeles Rams and the Atlanta Falcons. The 27-year-old wideout brings championship experience to the roster, having won a title with the Rams in Super Bowl LVI. During that 2021 championship season, he posted career-high numbers with 50 receptions for 802 yards and six touchdowns.
The addition of Van Jefferson provides the Commanders with an established vertical threat and valuable depth behind primary targets Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson. Throughout his four seasons in the league, Jefferson has proven to be a reliable contributor, accumulating 1,600 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 113 career catches. This acquisition is part of a broader strategy by the Washington front office to bolster the roster with experienced talent as they transition into a new era for the franchise.
Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed by the team. Jefferson is expected to compete for a significant role in the rotation during training camp.
