The Houston Texans have acquired running back David Montgomery in a trade with the Detroit Lions, according to DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN. In exchange for the veteran ballcarrier, Houston is sending offensive lineman Juice Scruggs and two draft picks to Detroit.
Montgomery joins the Texans backfield after a productive tenure in Detroit, where he served as a physical presence in one of the league's most potent rushing attacks. The move provides Houston with an established veteran to lead their ground game. Montgomery has consistently proven his ability to handle a heavy workload and contribute as a receiver out of the backfield.
In return, the Lions bolster their offensive line depth with Juice Scruggs. Scruggs, a former second-round selection out of Penn State, offers versatility on the interior of the line. Along with Scruggs, Detroit adds two future draft picks to their capital, though the specific rounds of those picks have not yet been officially confirmed.
