The Atlanta Falcons have officially signed quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The move was finalized on Friday as the NFL’s new league year transactions became official across the league.
Tagovailoa, 28, joins Atlanta following his departure from the Miami Dolphins. Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham confirmed the addition, noting that Tagovailoa "knows he’s coming in here to compete" for a role on the roster. The veteran quarterback has spent the entirety of his career to date in Miami before entering free agency this offseason. The move follows Miami's recent decision to sign Malik Willis to a multi-year deal to lead their offense.
The transaction was part of a busy opening to the league year for Atlanta, which also included the official signing of defensive lineman Chris Williams.
