The Pittsburgh Steelers have reached an agreement with veteran cornerback Jamel Dean on a three-year contract worth $36.75 million, per Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The deal was negotiated by Erik Burkhardt of Roc Nation Sports. Dean, who has spent his entire career thus far with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was considered one of the top available defensive backs on the free-agent market. His addition provides a significant boost to a Steelers secondary that has been looking to add size and speed on the outside.
In his four seasons with the Buccaneers, Jamel Dean proved to be a consistent playmaker. He has accounted for 193 total tackles and 41 passes defended across 57 career games since being drafted in 2019. Known for his press-man coverage abilities, Dean's skillset is expected to fit seamlessly into the defensive scheme led by head coach Mike Tomlin.
