The New York Jets have officially placed the franchise tag on star running back Breece Hall, per @AdamSchefter.
The move comes after the two sides were unable to come to a long-term agreement at this time. The franchise tag, worth approximately $14.293 million for the 2026 season, will serve as a placeholder while the Jets and Hall continue to negotiate a multi-year extension. The two sides now have until the July 15 deadline to reach a long-term deal.
Hall, 24, is coming off a career-best 2025 campaign in which he recorded 1,065 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Since being selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Iowa State product has emerged as one of the league's premier dual-threat weapons. By applying the franchise tag rather than the transition tag, the Jets have effectively secured their most explosive offensive player for the upcoming season amid reported interest from other clubs.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
