Team Canada has officially clinched first place in Group A following a 5-1 victory over Switzerland, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet (@FriedgeHNIC).
The Canadians secured the top seed in the group after a hard-fought battle against a physical Swiss side. While Switzerland played a heavy, aggressive game early on, Team Canada eventually wore down their opponents to pull away on the scoreboard and secure the decisive win.
The victory was overshadowed by a serious injury to Swiss forward Kevin Fiala. Fiala was stretchered off the ice after his legs became tangled with Canadian forward Tom Wilson during a physical sequence. The game was briefly delayed as medical personnel attended to Fiala before transporting him from the ice for further evaluation. There is currently no official update on the extent of the injury.
