Sportsnet broadcaster Chris Cuthbert has been named the 2026 recipient of the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award, per @FriedgeHNIC. The announcement was made Wednesday by the Hockey Hall of Fame, honoring Cuthbert for his outstanding contributions to hockey broadcasting.
Cuthbert is one of two media honorees recognized this year, alongside Gunnar Nordstrom, who was awarded the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award for excellence in hockey journalism. Cuthbert has been a prominent voice in the sport for over 40 years, currently serving as a lead play-by-play announcer for Sportsnet and Hockey Night in Canada. His career highlights include calling the 2010 Olympic "golden goal" and numerous Stanley Cup Finals.
The NHL Broadcasters' Association selects the Foster Hewitt recipient annually. Both Cuthbert and Nordstrom will be officially honored during the Hockey Hall of Fame NHL Media Awards Luncheon in Toronto on November 9, 2026.
