Fletcher, affectionately known throughout the league as "The Silver Fox," was a towering figure in professional hockey history. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004 in the Builders category, recognizing his massive contributions to the sport over several decades. Fletcher is perhaps best remembered for his tenure as the general manager of the Calgary Flames, where he built the 1989 Stanley Cup championship team, and his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he orchestrated the franchise-altering trade for Doug Gilmour.
His career spanned over six decades, during which he served in various executive roles for the Atlanta Flames, Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Phoenix Coyotes.
