The New York Islanders have acquired veteran forward Ondrej Palat from the New Jersey Devils in a multi-asset trade, according to Pierre LeBrun.
As part of the deal, the Islanders receive Palat, a 2026 third-round draft pick, and a 2027 sixth-round draft pick. In exchange, the New Jersey Devils receive forward Maxim Tsyplakov.
Palat, a seasoned winger known for his postseason experience and two Stanley Cup titles with the Tampa Bay Lightning, moves to Long Island to bolster the Islanders' forward depth. He has been a veteran presence in the Devils' locker room since signing with the club as a free agent in 2022. Tsyplakov, who attracted significant interest as a top European free agent before landing in the NHL, provides the Devils with a high-upside young forward as they reshuffle their roster.
The trade marks a rare significant transaction between the two Metropolitan Division rivals. There has been no immediate word on any salary retention involved in the move. Palat remains under contract through the 2026-27 season.
