The Winnipeg Jets have traded veteran defenseman Luke Schenn to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for draft capital, according to reports from Darren Dreger of TSN and Murat Ates of The Athletic.
As part of the transaction, the Jets will receive a 2027 second-round draft pick. Winnipeg also acquires a 2026 fourth-round pick, which is designated as the better of Buffalo or Edmonton’s selections for that year. To complete the deal, the Jets are retaining 50% of Schenn’s salary.
Schenn brings a veteran physical presence to the Sabres blue line. The move allows the Jets to accumulate future assets while managing their current roster and salary cap space. This trade highlights the ongoing activity across the league as teams look to bolster their depth for the stretch run.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
