The Vegas Golden Knights have traded forward Keegan Kolesar to the Detroit Red Wings, according to a report from Darren Dreger of TSN. In exchange for the veteran winger, the Golden Knights will receive a third-round selection in the 2029 NHL Entry Draft and a seventh-round selection in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft.
Keegan Kolesar has been a physical staple of the Golden Knights lineup for several seasons, including their 2023 Stanley Cup championship run. Known for his heavy hitting and forechecking ability, Kolesar provides the Red Wings with immediate grit in their bottom-six forward rotation. The 27-year-old forward has spent his entire professional career within the Vegas organization after being acquired as a prospect from Columbus in 2017.
The trade sees Detroit part with two future assets to secure NHL-ready depth. For Vegas, the move provides additional draft capital in 2027 and 2029 while offering flexibility within their current roster structure. Kolesar is currently entering the final year of a contract that carries a $1.4 million salary-cap hit.
