Logan Stanley, a former 18th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, has appeared in a limited capacity for the Winnipeg Jets this season. Standing at 6-foot-7, the physical blueliner has recorded one goal and one assist through 25 games played while often serving as the team's seventh defenseman. Stanley has spent his entire professional career within the Jets organization since being drafted out of the OHL.
On the opposing side, Luke Schenn is a veteran presence for the Nashville Predators. A two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Schenn signed a three-year contract with Nashville during the 2023 offseason. This season, the 34-year-old has suited up for 63 games, contributing seven points and providing a heavy, physical style of play to the Predators' defensive corps. Schenn was originally selected 5th overall in the 2008 NHL Draft and has played over 900 career games.
The scratch of both defensemen comes as the Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators battle for crucial points in the Western Conference standings. Both teams are currently in the thick of the playoff race, making lineup decisions particularly significant at this stage of the season.
