The NHL trade freeze is officially set to go into effect this Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET, according to Pierre LeBrun. This restriction on league-wide trades will remain in place until 11:59 p.m. ET on Feb. 22.
Per @PierreVLeBrun, the freeze marks a period on the league calendar where player movement via trade is prohibited. All NHL front offices must finalize and submit any pending trades to the league office before the Wednesday afternoon deadline to ensure they are processed.
This mandatory pause ensures roster stability across the league during the designated window. While the freeze is in effect, teams are unable to facilitate trades with one another, effectively locking current rosters in place until the restriction is lifted by the league.
Normal trade activity is expected to resume immediately following the expiration of the freeze on the night of Feb. 22. Until then, transaction activity involving NHL players will be put on hold as the league enters this designated period.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
