This update is a brief. We are expanding coverage with additional context and analysis as more details become available.

Jordan Staal has etched his name into the NHL record books, becoming the first player since 1956 to score a goal in each of the first five games of a Stanley Cup Final. The historic achievement was confirmed following his latest tally, marking a significant milestone in modern postseason history.

According to Chris Jastrzembski (@Chris_Jast), Staal's consistency throughout the championship series puts him in a category of his own in the expansion era. While other players have had prolific scoring runs in the finals, the specific feat of finding the back of the net in Games 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 has not been accomplished in nearly 70 years.

The last player to record a goal in five consecutive games during a Stanley Cup Final was Yvon Cournoyer in 1973. However, Cournoyer’s streak occurred during Games 2 through 6 of that series. Staal is the first to do so starting from the opening game of the series since the 1956 season, highlighting the incredible offensive pace he has maintained on hockey's biggest stage.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
