Team USA has officially hit the ice for practice, revealing its preliminary forward lines and defensive pairings, per Kyle Bukauskas of Sportsnet. The practice session provided the first look at how the American squad might lineup for upcoming international play, showcasing a roster loaded with NHL star power.
The top of the lineup features a high-powered trio of Brady Tkachuk, Jack Eichel, and Matthew Tkachuk. They are followed by a second unit consisting of Jake Guentzel, Auston Matthews, and Matt Boldy. The depth continues with Kyle Connor, Dylan Larkin, and Tage Thompson on the third line, while J.T. Miller, Brock Nelson, and Jack Hughes rounded out the primary four groups. Vincent Trocheck was seen rotating with Nelson, and Clayton Keller was also involved in the session.
On the defensive side, the Americans are led by a top pairing of Quinn Hughes and Charlie McAvoy. Other pairings included Jaccob Slavin skating with Brock Faber, Jake Sanderson alongside Zach Werenski, and Jackson LaCombe paired with Noah Hanifin. In goal, Connor Hellebuyck occupied his own net during the drills, according to Elliotte Friedman.
