The New York Rangers have traded veteran center Vincent Trocheck to the Minnesota Wild, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet and Michael Russo of The Athletic.

Friedman confirmed the blockbuster move on Wednesday, posting, "Going to Minnesota, per @RussoHockey," as the NHL trade deadline approaches. The deal marks one of the most significant moves of the season for the Wild, who continue to bolster their roster for a deep postseason run after acquiring Quinn Hughes earlier this year.

Trocheck, 32, has been the subject of intense speculation over the last week. The two-way center recently helped lead Team USA to a gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, showcasing the faceoff dominance and penalty-killing expertise that made him a top target for Minnesota General Manager Bill Guerin.

The move comes as the Rangers transition into a rebuilding phase, having already moved Artemi Panarin earlier in the season. For Minnesota, Trocheck fills a critical void in the top-six center rotation and addresses the team's league-worst faceoff percentage. Trocheck has three years remaining on a contract with an average annual value of $5.625 million.

Details regarding the full trade package and the return heading back to New York have not yet been officially announced.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
