The Calgary Flames are fielding significant interest in defenseman Zach Whitecloud, with more than 15 teams reportedly circling the veteran blueliner, according to Darren Dreger of TSN.
While the market for Whitecloud is robust, the Flames are reportedly holding a very high asking price. Per Dreger, Calgary would need to be "blown away" by a trade offer to part with the defenseman, as the organization views him as a vital veteran presence for mentoring and developing the team’s younger defensive core.
In addition to the buzz surrounding Whitecloud, Dreger reports that there is "tons of interest" in Flames forward Blake Coleman. However, current trade offers for the veteran forward have reportedly not been sufficient for Calgary to move him. Dreger currently estimates there is a 40 to 60 percent chance that Coleman is traded at this point.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
