The Utah Jazz are signing point guard Kennedy Chandler to a 10-day contract, according to agent Ryan Davis of WME Basketball as reported by ESPN. Chandler, who has been a standout performer in the NBA G League this season, currently leads the league in assists.
Kennedy Chandler returns to the NBA after spending his 2022-23 rookie season with the Memphis Grizzlies. A former second-round pick out of the University of Tennessee, Chandler appeared in 36 games for Memphis during his debut campaign. His addition to the Jazz roster comes on the heels of a productive stretch where he proved his capabilities as a primary facilitator and floor general at the G League level.
The move allows the Utah Jazz to evaluate the 21-year-old guard as they look to solidify their backcourt depth. Chandler’s playmaking ability, evidenced by his league-leading assist numbers, makes him an intriguing prospect for a Jazz team focused on talent development. He will join the team immediately for the duration of the short-term deal.
