Washington Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner has been named the 2024 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The prestigious award, which recognizes an NFL player for outstanding community service activities off the field as well as excellence on the field, was presented during the annual NFL Honors ceremony. Wagner was chosen from a pool of 32 nominees, one from each NFL team, for his significant impact on his community and his leadership within the locker room.
Throughout his storied career, Wagner has been a consistent force for good, focusing his philanthropic efforts on financial literacy, stroke awareness, and supporting underprivileged youth. His transition to the Commanders this season allowed him to expand his reach into the DMV area, continuing a legacy of service that defined his long tenure with the Seattle Seahawks and his time with the Los Angeles Rams.
As the winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, Wagner will receive a $250,000 donation to the charity of his choice. Wagner joins an elite group of past winners who have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to making a difference beyond the gridiron.
