The Philadelphia Eagles have officially traded star wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The blockbuster move, which has been the subject of league-wide speculation for months, was finalized on Monday as the NFL’s post-June 1 trade window officially opened. Per @RapSheet, the trade reunites Brown with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, who previously coached the receiver during their highly productive stint together with the Tennessee Titans.
By waiting until June 1 to process the transaction, the Eagles are able to spread Brown's substantial dead cap hit over the next two seasons. While the full trade compensation has not been formally announced, the Eagles are expected to receive significant draft capital in return, reportedly headlined by a 2027 first-round pick.
Brown, one of the league's premier deep threats, joins a Patriots offense led by young quarterback Drake Maye. The move provides New England with the elite veteran presence they have sought throughout the offseason, while giving Philadelphia much-needed financial flexibility moving forward. Brown had recently fueled rumors of the impending move by deactivating his social media accounts over the weekend.
