Free agent edge rusher Azeez Ojulari is signing a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons, per Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The deal marks a homecoming for the Marietta, Georgia native, who returns to play for his hometown team.
Azeez Ojulari was originally drafted by the New York Giants in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. During his four seasons in New York, the former Georgia Bulldog appeared in 42 games, totaling 16.0 sacks, 30 quarterback hits, and 80 tackles. His most productive season came as a rookie in 2021, when he set a Giants franchise rookie record with 8.0 sacks.
The Atlanta Falcons add Ojulari to a defensive unit seeking to bolster its edge-rushing rotation. Ojulari has experience playing in multiple defensive schemes and will now join a Falcons roster that has been active in free agency to address the defensive line.
