The Chicago Bears are bolstering their defensive front by signing veteran defensive lineman James Lynch to a one-year contract, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The signing was confirmed by Lynch's representation at LIFT Sports Management.

James Lynch joins the Bears after previously spending time with the Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans. A former fourth-round selection out of Baylor in the 2020 NFL Draft, Lynch brings significant NFC North experience to Chicago. During his three active seasons with the Vikings, he appeared in 37 games and recorded 53 total tackles along with two sacks.

The move provides the Chicago Bears with additional veteran depth along the interior of the defensive line as they approach the upcoming season. Lynch, 25, missed the 2023 season due to a torn ACL suffered during training camp but now returns to the field on a prove-it deal with a divisional rival.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
