The Denver Broncos are promoting quarterbacks coach Davis Webb to the position of offensive coordinator, according to a report from The Insiders.
Webb, a former NFL quarterback, has seen a rapid rise through the coaching ranks since joining the Broncos staff. The move comes after Webb drew significant interest during this hiring cycle, including being named a candidate for the Las Vegas Raiders head coaching vacancy. Webb ultimately withdrew from the Raiders' search with the intent of remaining in Denver.
In addition to the interest from Las Vegas, Webb reportedly received several requests to interview for offensive coordinator positions with other teams across the league. By securing Webb with a promotion, head coach Sean Payton retains a key member of his staff who has earned a reputation as a rising star in the industry.
Prior to his coaching career, Webb spent time as a player with the New York Giants, New York Jets, and Buffalo Bills. He joined the Broncos last season as the quarterbacks coach, working closely with the team's signal-callers in his first year off the active roster.
