Editorial standards: How we report

Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is not expected to report for the team's mandatory minicamp this week, according to Todd Archer of ESPN. The move marks a significant escalation in Lamb's ongoing pursuit of a new long-term contract extension.

By opting to skip the mandatory sessions, Lamb is subject to substantial fines under the NFL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Dallas Cowboys are scheduled to begin their three-day minicamp on Tuesday, and the absence of their top offensive weapon follows his decision to stay away from the team's voluntary organized team activities (OTAs) earlier this spring.

Lamb is currently entering the final year of his rookie contract, set to play on a fifth-year option worth roughly $17.99 million. This figure is significantly below the current market value for elite wide receivers, especially following recent record-setting deals across the league. In 2023, Lamb led the NFL with 135 receptions and set franchise records for catches and receiving yards.

The Dallas Cowboys front office has expressed a desire to keep Lamb in the fold long-term, but as of Monday, no agreement has been reached. Per @toddarcher, the team will now proceed with their final week of offseason work without their WR1 on the field.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
