The Dallas Cowboys have placed veteran wide receiver Parris Campbell on the reserve/retired list, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The announcement comes as a surprise as the 28-year-old wideout had only recently joined the franchise during the offseason.
Campbell signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys in April, with the expectation that he would compete for a depth role in a receiving corps headlined by CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. A former second-round pick out of Ohio State in 2019, Campbell spent the first four seasons of his professional career with the Indianapolis Colts before a one-year stint with the New York Giants in 2023.
Throughout his five-year NFL career, Campbell recorded 117 receptions for 1,087 yards and five touchdowns. His most successful campaign came in 2022 with the Colts, where he remained healthy for all 17 games and posted career-highs in catches (63) and yards (623). However, much of his career was defined by battles with various injuries that limited his time on the field.
By placing Campbell on the reserve/retired list, the Cowboys will retain his rights should he choose to return to football, but he will no longer occupy a spot on the active roster as the team prepares for training camp.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
