The Dallas Cowboys have officially placed the franchise tag on star wide receiver George Pickens, but the team remains open to a potential "tag-and-trade" scenario this offseason, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The move comes after Pickens delivered a career-best campaign in 2025, recording 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. Despite applying the tag, Rapoport reports that Dallas is willing to listen to trade offers for the 24-year-old playmaker, continuing a recent organizational trend of moving marquee talent for draft compensation. Pickens was originally acquired by the Cowboys in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers last spring.
In the same report, Rapoport shared several other significant league-wide developments. The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly planning to open contract negotiations with veteran quarterback Daniel Jones, while the Cincinnati Bengals are considering the franchise tag for pass rusher Trey Hendrickson. Additionally, the future of New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson remains a key storyline to watch as the new league year approaches on March 11.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
