Former New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims has joined the Dallas Cowboys, according to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN. The move marks a homecoming for the wideout, who starred at Baylor University before being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Mims was originally selected by the New York Jets with the 59th overall pick. During his tenure in New York, the 6-foot-3 receiver struggled to find consistent production within the offense, appearing in 30 games over three seasons. He recorded 42 receptions for 676 yards during his time with the franchise, though he did not record a touchdown during his regular-season appearances for the team.
The addition of Mims provides the Dallas Cowboys with a high-upside depth piece in their receiving corps. Standing at 6-foot-3 and possessing elite speed, Mims was a standout performer in the Big 12, earning First-team All-Big 12 honors in 2019. He now joins a Dallas roster looking to bolster its offensive weapons and provide veteran competition at the wide receiver position.
