Editorial standards: How we report

Michigan defensive end Derrick Moore will not participate in running drills at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine after suffering a hamstring injury, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The injury, described as a strain, reportedly occurred approximately two weeks ago during Moore's preparation for the event. As a result, the standout defender will be sidelined for the speed and agility testing portions of the combine in Indianapolis. Moore was expected to be a significant performer among the edge rushing group following a productive tenure with the Michigan Wolverines defense.

While Moore will not be running this week, he remains a highly-regarded prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft class. He is expected to focus on his recovery with the goal of showcasing his athletic testing numbers at Michigan’s upcoming on-campus Pro Day. Despite the injury preventing him from on-field drills, Moore is still expected to participate in the interview process and undergo medical evaluations with NFL teams while in Indianapolis.

The loss of one of the draft's notable defensive ends from the testing circuit is a blow to the combine's schedule, but teams will now look toward his individual workout in Ann Arbor for verified timing data. Moore played a key role in Michigan's recent defensive success, and his health will be a primary focus for front offices leading up to April.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
