Former Detroit Lions All-Pro center Frank Ragnow has officially broken his silence regarding his recent cycle of retiring and un-retiring, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Addressing the back-and-forth nature of his decision-making process, Ragnow admitted the difficulty of the choice. "Ultimately it came down to that decision, and obviously, I struggled with that decision," Ragnow stated, per @RapSheet. The veteran center had briefly reconsidered his initial retirement before ultimately deciding to step away from the game for good.
Ragnow, a standout performer for the Lions since being selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, has been one of the most consistent offensive linemen in the league. Over his career, he earned three Pro Bowl selections and two Second-team All-Pro honors. However, he has also dealt with significant physical tolls and injuries in recent seasons, which played a major role in his deliberation over his professional future.
The Detroit Lions will now look to solidify their offensive front without their long-time anchor as Ragnow transitions into the next chapter of his career.
