Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, who previously reported on a contract impasse between Lawrence and the Giants, reacted to the trade news on Sunday with a cryptic "Hmmmm" post on social media following the initial reports.
Lawrence has been a cornerstone of the New York defensive line since being selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The 28-year-old tackle is a multi-time Pro Bowler and has been one of the most consistent interior defenders in the league over the past several seasons. With the addition of the No. 10 selection, the Giants now hold two picks in the top 10 of the upcoming draft, joining their original No. 5 overall selection.
