Former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III has been denied parole, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The decision comes nearly five years after the high-speed drunken driving crash in Las Vegas that resulted in the death of a woman and her dog.
Ruggs was originally sentenced to three to ten years in Nevada state prison after pleading guilty to a felony count of DUI resulting in death and a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter. The former first-round draft pick was released by the Raiders shortly after the November 2021 incident.
The crash, which occurred at speeds reaching 156 mph, remains one of the most high-profile legal cases involving an active NFL player in recent history. With parole denied, Ruggs will remain in custody as he continues to serve his court-ordered sentence.
