The New York Jets are hiring Detroit Lions assistant tight ends coach Seth Ryan as their new passing game coordinator, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Seth Ryan represents the third generation of the Ryan family to join the Jets coaching ranks. He follows in the footsteps of his father, Rex Ryan, who served as the team's head coach from 2009 to 2014 and led the franchise to two AFC Championship appearances. His grandfather, the legendary Buddy Ryan, also coached for the organization, serving as the defensive line coach for the 1968 team that famously won Super Bowl III.
Prior to accepting this new role in New York, Seth Ryan spent time developing his coaching resume as an assistant with the Detroit Lions. This move marks a significant promotion for the younger Ryan as he takes on broader responsibilities within the Jets offensive staff. The hiring brings one of the most recognizable names in franchise history back to the sidelines at MetLife Stadium.
