The Green Bay Packers are naming Luke Getsy as the team's new quarterbacks coach, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Getsy, who returned to the organization last season as a senior assistant, will now step back into a direct coaching role with the team's passers under head coach Matt LaFleur.
This move marks a significant internal promotion for Getsy, who possesses deep ties to the Packers organization. He previously served as the team’s quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator from 2019 to 2021. During that specific tenure, Getsy played a pivotal role in the early development of Jordan Love, working closely with the young signal-caller during his first two seasons in the league after Love was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Prior to his return to Green Bay as a senior assistant in 2024, Getsy gained extensive experience as an offensive play-caller in the NFC North and beyond. He served as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears for two seasons before taking on the same role with the Las Vegas Raiders. His familiarity with the Packers' offensive system and his existing rapport with Love are expected to provide continuity for the quarterback room.
The vacancy on the coaching staff was created by the recent departure of Sean Mannion. Mannion, who had been a key part of the Packers' offensive staff, recently left the organization to accept the offensive coordinator position with the Philadelphia Eagles. By moving Getsy into this role, the Packers fill a critical position with a coach who has previously overseen MVP-level production within their system.
