The Carolina Panthers have officially canceled the final day of their mandatory minicamp, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. First-year head coach Dave Canales informed the team following Wednesday's practice that the scheduled Thursday session would no longer take place, effectively ending the team's organized offseason activities.
According to Rapoport, the early dismissal serves as a reward for the team’s performance and intensity throughout the week. Canales reportedly challenged the roster to maintain a high level of competition during the first two days of the mandatory camp; after seeing the desired execution, the coaching staff opted to give the players an early start to their summer break.
This move concludes the first offseason program under the Canales regime as the team looks to turn the page from a difficult 2023 season. The Panthers are the latest of several NFL teams to wrap up their spring workouts ahead of schedule, prioritizing rest and recovery before the start of training camp.
The team is expected to reconvene in Charlotte in late July to begin official preparations for the 2024 regular season. Detailed schedules for training camp arrivals will be released by the league in the coming weeks.
